Bio

Chef Owens has a certificate of Baking & Pastry from the Culinary Institute of America (Hyde Park, NY) a BA in Liberal Arts from Towson University and an MA in Leadership in Teaching from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Owens holds two certifications from the American Culinary Federation: Culinary Educator and Working Pastry Chef, as well as two certificates from the International Sommelier Guild. She is also a certified ServSafe instructor/proctor.

Upon graduating from the CIA, Chef Owens started at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Her next position was the Assistant Pastry Chef at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, NY.

After New York, she served as the Pastry Chef at the Carolina Club in Chapel Hill, NC. Since then she has held multiple teaching positions, including at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, East Carolina University and most recently as director of Culinary Arts at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Chef Owens joined JWU’s Denver Campus in 2012.
