If you ever come to my class, I can teach you anything you want to know about decorating and cake making — the ups and downs, the do’s and don’ts.“

I was and born in Austria. After finishing high school I entered a 3 year pastry apprenticeship. I earned my Pastry Chef certification and, in 1964, the Konditor Meister certification.

I immigrated to the United States in 1964 and settled in Philadelphia. I became a US citizen and spent a number of years as a pastry chef and cake decorator in several pastry shops.

In 1981, I opened Zach’s Cakes and Pastries and, in 2000, our 2nd location, Zach’s Delectable Necessities. In 2004 I was teaching as a baking & pastry instructor at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and as an adjunct guest instructor at The Restaurant School at Chesnut Hill College.

In 2005, after 25 years in business, my wife and I moved to Colorado and settled in the Denver area. I worked for Gourmet Fine Catering and Centerplate at the Colorado Convention Center and Denver Performing Art Complex. In 2008 I was invited to join the faculty of JWU as a baking & pastry arts instructor.
