Bio

Jim Flader began his journey in the culinary world as a second career. After serving as an administrator in higher education, he decided to follow his true passion to become a chef and enrolled at Johnson & Wales University. During his career in culinary arts, Flader had the opportunity to work in several different areas of the food and beverage industry. Having spent time in a four-diamond restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental, serving as personal chef to the CEO of Perry Ellis and working as an instructor for the Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa, as well as various catering opportunities, Flader was able to hone his culinary and service skills.

During his career, Flader received numerous awards and honors, some of which include South Beach Wine and Food Festival recipe presentation, the President's Trophy at Johnson & Wales, a Diversity Award from the Western Association of College and University Housing Officers, and the Affirmative Action Award from Vanderbilt University.

Flader is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he received his bachelor's degree in Engineering and his M.Ed. He then completed his Associate in Science degree in Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Flader also has several certifications from the Wine and Spirits Educational Trust, the Federation of Dining Room Professionals, and the Society of Wine Educators.
