I worked in the greater Miami area as a pastry chef for more than 10 years, then returned to JWU’s North Miami Campus to teach.“


Born and raised in Okinawa Japan, Chef Mika Kochi is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where she received an associate degree in Culinary Arts from the Providence Campus and an associate degree in Baking & Pastry Arts from the North Miami Campus.

After graduation, she worked at Norman’s Restaurant in Coral Gables, Pacific Time in South Beach — and took part in opening of Loew’s Miami Beach Hotel. She was employed at the Turnberry Isle Club and Resort as assistant pastry chef for 10 years.

Chef Kochi taught at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Miami for two years before returning to JWU’s North Miami Campus to teach.
