Bio

Before joining the faculty at Johnson & Wales, Chef Rizwan Ahmed’s 12 years of experience as a chef included working under legendary Master Chef Paul Gayler (MBE) at the Lanesborough Hotel, Chef Michel Roux (OBE) at Le Gavroche (Michelin 2 star), Chef Andre Garrett at the Orrery (Michelin 1 star) and Newport Room (AAA Five Diamond), and ACF Master Chef Daniel Scannell.

Armed with this experience, Ahmed opened his restaurant Hourglass Brasserie, serving contemporary European style-cuisine. The Bristol, Rhode Island-based restaurant held the No. 1 position on TripAdvisor four years in a row.

Equipped with a Diploma in Culinary Arts, Le Cordon Bleu, London, and a B.S. in Marine Biology, Ahmed currently teaches freshmen and sophomores at JWU. He prides himself on the fact that the students and instructors all work in a collaborative fashion, continually experimenting and sharing ideas.
