Bio

Jeffery Alexander first began in the baking industry at the age of 13, where he did a short stint at a bakery outside of Philadelphia. It was there he fell in love with his future profession.

As Alexander went through high school, he worked for a few restaurants and knew that he wanted to go to Johnson & Wales University.

Alexander attended JWU's Charleston Campus, where he graduated with an A.S. in Pastry Arts and a B.S. in Food Service Management.

After leaving school, Alexander worked for some of the best 5-star, 5 Diamond hotels, including The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, and The Cloister Hotel in Sea Island, Georgia, where he served as head baker and assistant pastry chef.

He has taught pastry classes at the Art Institute of Charleston, the Culinary Institute of Charleston, and (of course) Johnson & Wales University’s Charleston and Charlotte campuses. Six years ago,he transferred to JWU’s Providence Campus.

Alexander has been with JWU for a total of 14 years. He loves what he does and is constantly attending educational classes to help him stay on top of the profession, and continue to provide the best possible education for our future — the students.
