Bio

Although I took a very circuitous route into postsecondary teaching, I was raised by parents who valued higher education; one of my parents earned a PhD and taught at the university level for many years, and the other earned an MS in Library Science.

Prior to teaching at JWU, my background comprised 36 years in management, operations, training, human resources, manager training, and employee development, in both the restaurant industry and a dry-cleaning business.

I utilize my acquired knowledge from a BS in Social Work, an MBA with concentrations in Health Care and Human Resources Management, and an EdD in Educational Leadership, in conjunction with my real-life examples from industry, when demonstrating concepts and engaging students in the classroom.

I love getting to know my students, helping them identify their teamwork and leadership abilities, and strategically discussing their interests and plans to foster continued learning experiences applicable to their endeavors.

My hope is to guide and support my students and advisees toward their chosen niche in industry, or education, by helping them reflect on their experiential learning experiences, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities.
