Bio

Although she took a very circuitous route into postsecondary teaching, Jennifer Broderick was raised by parents who valued higher education; one of her parents earned a Ph.D. and taught at the university level for many years, and the other earned an M.S. in Library Science.

Prior to teaching at JWU, Broderick's background comprised 36 years in management, operations, training, human resources, manager training and employee development, in both the restaurant industry and a dry-cleaning business.

Broderick utilizes her acquired knowledge from a B.S. in Social Work, an MBA with concentrations in Health Care and Human Resources Management, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, in conjunction with her real-life examples from industry, when demonstrating concepts and engaging students in the classroom.

She loves getting to know her students, helping them identify their teamwork and leadership abilities, and strategically discussing their interests and plans to foster continued learning experiences applicable to their endeavors.

Broderick's hope is to guide and support her students and advisees toward their chosen niche in industry, or education, by helping them reflect on their experiential learning experiences, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities.
