I think Johnson & Wales does a good job of connecting to the community, so that students have an opportunity to get a feeling for what real life is really going to be like.

Brenda Eckler came to Johnson and Wales University in 2013.

Prior to that time, she spent several years teaching and serving as a coordinator in a unique inter-institutional program at the State University of New York (SUNY).

Eckler’s experience spans event planning, professional photography and accountancy. As an adult, she returned to college to pursue a degree in event plannning and eventually an MBA in Management, with a minor in Entrepreneurship, her passion.

She is currently enrolled in a DBA program, completing her studies in late 2018 and publishing in 2019. Her research encompasses 21st-century teaching and learning in higher education.

In early 2019, she became a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP).
