Bio

It was during my doctoral work at the University of North Carolina that I discovered by passion for teaching undergraduate students. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to serve as a Chemistry Lecturer during my post-doctoral Fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University in 1998. By that point, I knew teaching chemistry was a career that would bring a lot of satisfaction.

I spent the first 16 years of my career at Central Michigan University, teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. I have published the results of my research in professional journals with some of my research students as coauthors.

Although I enjoyed the one-on-one mentoring relationship I had with my lab students, I feel inspired by undergraduate students in the classroom. I have conducted research in the area of Chemical Education and continue to strive to put the best learning practices into action in the classroom to achieve great student learning outcomes. I joined the faculty at Johnson & Wales University in 2016 and hope my tenure here will allow me to inspire and train the next generation of science students.
