Brian Van Gyzen joined the Hospitality College faculty in 2011. With 40+ years in the restaurant industry, including 19 years of management experience, his focus is on Food & Beverage Operations Management courses at the Center for Food & Beverage Management.

Professor Van Gyzen is the former General Manager of The West Deck and Barking Crab restaurants, and Outlets Manager of The Newport Hyatt Hotel and Spa, all in Newport, RI.

Professor Van Gyzen has also judged various industry competitions, including The Donna Lee Food Writing Scholarship, The VIBE Vista Beverage Awards, and The Greater Springfield (Mass.) Convention & Visitors Bureau Howdy Awards for Hospitality Excellence. He also has published the article “Food Makes the Meeting,” in the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Newsletter, 2014.
