Kelly Fernandes graduated from Johnson & Wales, in Baking & Pastry. Through her jobs she learned to love cooking as much as baking. She is now an expert in both fields and employed in Culinary Arts at JWU.

Q&A with Kelly

At JWU, education is not confined to the four walls of the classroom. You’re not going to spend four years with your nose buried in a book, learning theories you may never get a chance to apply — you’re going to get out there and apply them, be it through internships, group projects, leadership opportunities, competitions and more.

What Advice Do You Have For Incoming Freshmen?

Do not be afraid to ask questions!
Read cookbooks and regional cooking that interests you-learning does not stop once you leave the kitchen lab setting. Join clubs once you feel acclimated to the "college life". You WILL make new friends, I promise!
