From Job Fairs to Advising, JWU Career Services Is Open
Since the COVID-19 pandemic’s arrival in the U.S., many of Experiential Education & Career Services’ employer partners have been hit quite hard; a majority of companies have suspended their spring and summer university recruiting efforts. As a result, EE&CS staff is working together to find ways to support students through this challenging time.
Here are some of the ways the EE&CS team is here to help you.
- One-on-One Advising: The EE&CS team members work with individual students on their unique needs and experiences. We are fully set up to conduct advising remotely via email, phone, or Skype. Students can log in to link.jwu.edu > Career Center> Appointments> Schedule a New Appointment.
- Virtual Career Fairs: In March, EE&CS hosted a virtual career fair with 60 employer booths and 377 students who participated in 700+ chats about employment opportunities. You may see employers you don’t typically see recruiting at JWU — we are seeking every available opportunity we can find for you to gain employment and build transferable skills. The success of that event has led us to schedule an additional upcoming virtual career fair, Hiring JWU Now, on Wednesday, May 6, from 11:30am-3:30pm. Register.
Other Professional Development Programming
- GradCareer Fair Festival: June 23-26, 11am-3pm daily. This virtual career fair (an $87 value) is FREE to all JWU graduating students in partnership with our Alumni Relations office. Register by June 1 to join more than 70 top career authors, career coaches, hiring managers, and employment experts.
- Employer Sponsored Professional Development: We are working with several employer partners to offer virtual professional development sessions — details coming soon!
- JWU EE&CS COVID-19 Job Search Page: We encourage our students to visit our job search ideas page for a variety of resources.
Of course, given the recent negative impact on the U.S. economy, it will be a difficult job search for all graduating students. No matter what happens, EE&CS will be here to support you as you continue your job search so you are best prepared when the situation changes.
