Why to Apply Early Action at JWU

What’s better than getting accepted to Johnson & Wales? Getting accepted early! Typically, high school seniors begin receiving acceptance letters in late winter, giving them sometimes just weeks to decide which school to commit to. But at JWU, we understand that this decision shouldn’t be hasty and rushed, which is why we offer and encourage students and their families to take advantage of our Early Action program.

What is Early Action?

Our Early Action Admission program is simple: If you choose to submit your application as Early Action, you will find out your admissions decision by Thanksgiving. Better yet, since our Early Action process is non-binding, you’re not tied to JWU; instead you just have the peace of mind of knowing that there’s a spot waiting for you on campus. This gives you and your family until May 1 to choose where you best fit.

When do I have to submit my application by?

In order to meet the Early Action deadline, you will have to submit your completed application by November 1. Also if you’ve submitted your FAFSA by November 1, you will receive your financial aid packet in December.

Who is eligible?

Johnson & Wales’ Early Action Admission program is open to first-year applicants for fall semester.

How do I apply Early Action?

If you’ve yet to apply to JWU, it’s easy! Just select Early Action on your application and you’re done.

Early Action in Action

James Helsingius '23 knew that JWU was where he wanted to be to pursue his culinary aspirations, so he was excited to hear that Early Action was an option for him. “I wanted to get into the [application] process as soon as possible,” Helsingius said. “When my counselor told me about JWU’s Early Action Admission, I took the initiative because I knew it was what I wanted to do.”

After applying, Helsingius found out just weeks later that he was accepted and was relieved that he could stop worrying about what the future held. “I was ahead by doing Early Action and I loved it,” he said. “It was good to know that I had another step in my life figured out. I was able to enjoy my senior year without the stress of worrying about which college I was getting into.”

In his own words, Helsingius explains why choosing early action at JWU was the prefect fit for him.
