Providence Campus
JWU Providence is the university’s flagship campus, offering the best of both worlds with an urban Downcity campus in the heart of Rhode Island’s Creative Capital and a scenic Harborside campus overlooking Narragansett Bay.
Students are just steps from downtown restaurants, cafés, theaters, the Providence Performing Arts Center, Amica Mutual Pavilion, and the city’s thriving arts and food scene — with Boston only about an hour away.
As the home of JWU’s renowned culinary and hospitality programs, Providence offers unmatched access to internships, industry partnerships, and hands-on learning in one of New England’s top food destinations.
Aligning Public Health with Nursing
“Being a Public Health major has amplified what I am passionate about and helped me understand every side of healthcare, and I believe this knowledge will really help me in the future,” shared Aria Coutu ’26, who enrolled at JWU as a pathway to nursing.
Of her experience earning JWU credit by interning at Brown University Health, Coutu stated, “I always knew I wanted to go into medicine and help people along the way. Through my experience at Brown Health, I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of.”
Why Study Public Health at JWU Providence?

No matter their path, JWU students are encouraged to become public health advocates under the mentorship of research-focused and industry-experience faculty. This means having an opportunity to influence health firsthand through directed learning, research or a public health-related internship.
