Biography

Schellie Andrews is an accomplished pastry chef and educator with a career spanning more than 40 years in the hospitality and culinary education industries. Throughout her career, Andrews has honed her craft in some of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants, hotels, and pastry shops, as well as in notable positions at Universal Studios Hollywood and Vie de France Bakery and Café in Los Angeles, where she served as Lead Pastry Chef.
In 2004, Andrews transitioned into culinary education, sharing her extensive knowledge and industry experience with students at the California School of Culinary Arts, Le Cordon Bleu, where she taught for five years. Her dedication to the culinary arts and passion for education led her to join the faculty at Johnson & Wales University’s North Miami Campus in 2008.
At Johnson & Wales University, Andrews became a Lead Cake Design Instructor, teaching freshman, sophomore, and senior-level cake design labs. Her areas of instruction include buttercream, fondant, and gum paste flower techniques, with a particular passion for the artistry and craftsmanship involved in creating realistic gum paste flowers.
In November 2016, Andrews relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, and continued her career with Johnson & Wales University at the Charlotte Campus. She remains a dedicated and respected educator in pastry and cake design, bringing decades of professional experience, creativity, and a genuine passion for mentoring the next generation of pastry professionals.
