Biography
Dr. Robert Lothrop is a full-time professor at Johnson & Wales University. He began his career with the University in 2000 at the Denver, CO campus and has been at the Charlotte, NC campus since 2011. Lothrop was one of the owners of Fullbar LLC and served as the company’s director of research & development responsible for the innovation of the company’s weight loss products.
Prior to joining Johnson & Wales University, Robert held the position of assistant director of food & beverage operations for Primadonna Casino Resorts; part of the MGM/Mirage family of resorts in Primm, Nevada. He also has been employed in a food and beverage management capacity for companies such as Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, ITT Sheraton Hotels, Raynham/Taunton Greyhound Park and the Walt Disney World Company.
Lothrop earned his doctoral degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from Colorado State University focusing on research into the functional use of non-nutritive sweeteners in baked food systems. Additionally, Dr. Lothrop earned a masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, a bachelor degree from Johnson & Wales University and a certificate in French Cuisine from École Supérieure de Cuisine Française.
