The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings are out, and JWU was once again recognized for its innovative approach to higher education and commitment to keeping the cost of an education affordable for students.  

Released each year in September, the rankings are widely considered to be a strong benchmark for evaluating and comparing colleges and universities. The annual rankings measure institutions across a range of factors, including academic quality, outcomes and value, and helping prospective students and families compare colleges and universities nationwide. Recognition in areas such as innovation and affordability underscores JWU’s focus on delivering a high-quality education while remaining accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. 

JWU Providence Ranked 6^th in “Most Innovative Schools: Regional Universities North” 

In the 2027 rankings, the Providence, Rhode Island campus was ranked number six in the “Most Innovative Schools: Regional Universities North” category, up one spot from last year. Unlike some of the other categories, this ranking is based on surveys of academic peers. The strong position reflects the university’s commitment to adaptability and providing students with a cutting-edge, industry-responsive education. Over the past year, JWU launched the nation’s first in-person three-year bachelor’s degree programs, welcoming its first two cohorts of students. Offered in four in-demand career areas, the innovative programs enable students to earn a bachelor’s degree in just three years with 90–96 credits, compared with the traditional 120. 

The three-year degrees are just one example of how JWU is rethinking the traditional university model. Through its REAL approach, the university puts learning into practice by connecting classroom instruction with real-world experiences, industry perspectives and applied learning. And through the JWU Pledge, the university is expanding access to a JWU education by creating a clear, more affordable path to a degree for eligible students. Together, these initiatives reflect JWU’s ongoing commitment to rethinking how higher education is delivered, experienced and accessed. 

JWU Charlotte Named “Best Value” Among Southern Schools  

The Charlotte, North Carolina campus was again named among the “Best Value: Regional Colleges, South,” ranked at number 11.  

The recognition highlights JWU Charlotte’s ongoing focus on affordability, student success and career preparation. The JWU Pledge and three-year degree program give students the opportunity to earn a high-quality education while reducing the time and cost required to complete a degree. This fall, JWU Charlotte welcomed its first cohort of three-year career-focused bachelor’s of hospitality management students to campus.
