Transfer Application Dates for Fall Entry
What’s in Your Transfer Application
Unofficial transcripts are all that’s needed for your admissions application. Once you’re admitted, you’ll ask previous school(s) to send your official transcripts prior to enrollment.
You will need:
- Completed application in our online admissions portal
- High school transcripts or home school verification form (PDF), if applicable
- College transcripts if you want to transfer class credits
- Any optional or supplemental documents your program might require (use our submission form), like:
- Essays
- Portfolios
- Test scores

How will your credits transfer?

Students must complete the standard undergraduate admissions requirements.
There is no fee when applying to Johnson & Wales University.
For fall entry, the priority application deadline is April 12; our final fall deadline is July 15. For spring entry, all applications are due by December 1.
Johnson & Wales is test-optional. We will consider test scores if you choose to submit them as part of your application, but they are not required.
Transfer credit evaluations are based on prior college coursework and its relevance to your intended major. Credit is typically awarded for courses completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Courses grades as “pass” are also eligible if equivalent to a 2.00 or higher.
Developmental, remedial, and CEU (Continuing Education Unit) credits are not transferable.
Use the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) system to see how your completed courses may transfer to JWU.
JWU follows a semester-based academic calendar with two main start terms:
-Fall Semester- begins in August
-Spring Semester- begins in January
Some programs may also offer summer courses, and students can take advantage of accelerated options, online courses, and interdisciplinary opportunities depending on their major and campus.
Yes! Transfer students are eligible to apply; however, prior college credits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine how they align with the program.
Please note: All students must complete at least one full year of study at Johnson & Wales University to meet the university’s residency requirement.
