Biography
Nancy R. Dooley, Ph.D. has been an occupational therapist for more than thirty years, working with people who have mental, physical, and cognitive impairments that impact their ability to do what they need and want to do every day. She has varied clinical experience in hospital and community mental health, skilled nursing facilities and home-based care. Her practice includes consultation on aging in place and supervision of students in many settings including programs for unhoused families, assisted living settings, and adult day programs.
Dooley has taught in or directed degree programs at all levels of occupational therapy education. She has written several articles and book chapters related to occupational therapy clinical and didactic education, development of clinical reasoning, and assessment and intervention for people with cognitive impairments. In 2023 she was named a fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association for her outstanding contributions to education, scholarship and service.
