Whether you study at JWU’s campus in Providence, R.I. or Charlotte, N.C., the JWU Library gives you the space, tools and support you need to succeed. Librarians and staff help you find research, learn new skills and get ready for your career.
Providence Campus Libraries
The JWU Providence Library has two locations: Downcity and Harborside. Together, they offer more than 100,000 books, videos and journals, plus access to more than 80 research databases you can use on or off campus.
The Downcity Library holds most of the book collection. The Harborside Library houses the university’s culinary collections and is near JWU’s culinary and baking labs. Students from any major can study, print, use computers and get help at either location.
Both libraries are open seven days a week during the academic year, with extended hours during final exams. You’ll find plenty of seating for solo study or group work, along with Macs, PCs, printers, scanners and Wi-Fi.
The Providence Library is also home to the Culinary Arts Museum collection and ScholarsArchive@JWU, a digital home for student and faculty research. Throughout the year, the library hosts art exhibits, artifact displays and cultural events open to students.
Charlotte Campus Library
The JWU Charlotte Library sits at the corner of Trade and Cedar streets in Gateway Village. The collection includes about 33,000 books, 200,000 ebooks and 54 research databases, along with thousands of streaming videos.
Students can reserve study rooms, use on-site computers and get help from library staff in person or online.
Get Help From a Librarian
You don’t have to search alone. Librarians at both campuses offer one-on-one research appointments and answer questions through Ask a Librarian chat. They can help you find sources, cite them correctly and prepare for exams or research projects.
If your library doesn’t have what you need, interlibrary loan lets you borrow it from another library.
Study Rooms, Technology and Printing
Need a quiet spot to focus or a room to meet with your group? Reserve a study room online at either campus. Each library also has computers, printers and scanners you can use.
All active students receive a $75 printing allowance for the academic year, added automatically each fall. Need more? Add funds anytime through Student Financial Services.
Culinary Arts Museum
As an extension of JWU Library, the Culinary Arts Museum is a hidden gem on the Providence Campus. With a 165,000-item strong collection of historic artifacts associated with the fields of culinary arts, food studies and hospitality, it’s a powerful resource for culinary research.
Yes. JWU has library locations at its Providence campus (Downcity and Harborside) and its Charlotte campus. All three offer research help, study space and technology students can use throughout the school year.
