Experiential Education & Career Services works with students on the Providence and Charlotte campuses from their first year through graduation — and with the employers who hire them.

For students, we help with internship placement, career advising, résumé and interview coaching, and career fairs where they meet employers face-to-face. Last year, more than 1,100 students completed an internship.
For employers, it means one team to work with. Whether you’re filling a single role or building a hiring pipeline, our staff in Rhode Island and North Carolina can connect you to the right students and the right programs. Of the employers who host our students, 96.2% rate JWU’s internship program good or exceptional, and 42% of students are hired by their employer after a paid internship.
Many of the companies we partner with have been hiring JWU graduates for years, even decades. Those relationships also keep our faculty and advisors current on what your industry needs, so students arrive at your door knowing the field they’re entering.

How Employers Hire JWU Students
Post Internship and Job Openings
Handshake is our recruiting system for students, graduating seniors, master’s candidates and alumni. Set up an employer account to post full-time jobs, part-time jobs and internships to both campuses.
Posting on Handshake is also the first step for on-campus recruiting — all positions need to be listed there before you take part in a fair or interview day.
Host an Internship
Hosting an intern is one of the most direct routes to hiring. You get to know a student’s skills and potential over a full semester, and they get to know how your organization actually runs — it’s a win for both. In 2023-24, more than half of our students on internships received job offers from their internship sites upon graduation.
Recruit Students In-Person
Career and internship fairs, Employer in Residence programs and other events give you direct access to our students. Meet, interview and recruit students from all four JWU colleges: Arts & Sciences, Food Innovation & Technology, Health & Wellness and Hospitality & Business.
Options include:
- Programs and workshops — Share your industry insight with students in a session planned with our team.
- On-campus interviewing — Interview multiple students in a single day. Students remember the companies they meet on campus.
- Career and internship fairs — By invitation, with limited availability and a standard booth fee. Fairs are curated by college and major to match your recruiting needs.
- Employer-in-Residence — Providence campus only. A full day of class visits, a recruitment table, lunch with faculty and an informal meet and greet with students. Offered to established employers recruiting across multiple colleges.
Sponsor a Career Fair
Our career fairs are among the busiest events of the year for students and employers alike. Sponsoring one gives your team more visibility with students and helps more of them connect with employers. Sponsorships go a long way towards helping students discover exciting careers paths.
