Study Abroad

Expand Your Horizons

Studying abroad is a way to earn credit toward your JWU degree while seeing the world. Living and learning alongside people from other cultures gives you a global perspective that sets you apart from other graduates.

Whether you’re learning about ecotourism in Costa Rica over spring break, studying the fashion greats in Italy during summer break or improving your language skills in Spain for a semester, JWU has an opportunity for you to navigate new environments, gain independence and build global connections.

Three Ways to Go

Faculty-Led Programs

Designed by JWU and guided by JWU faculty, these programs run one to four weeks. You travel with your professors and take part in site visits and cultural tours that connect to your coursework.

Direct Enroll Programs

Enroll directly at a JWU partner university for a semester or a summer. You take courses alongside local students in destinations such as France and Italy.

Exchange Programs

Spend a semester at a JWU partner university abroad, with courses taught by that university’s faculty. You join local and international students in class and in campus life.

Volcanic Island Wines

During this spring break trip to the Azorean Islands, students explored world-famous wine-producing regions and learned about behind-the-scenes winery management and production.

“Studying in Portugal let me learn beyond the classroom. From exploring the Azores and Madeira to learning about cuisine and winemaking — every moment expanded my perspective. It was one of the most meaningful chapters of my college journey.”
