Paralegal Studies continuing education only

Bachelor of Science The goal of the paralegal program is to graduate students who are prepared for meaningful careers in government agencies, business organizations, and law firms. Through this course of study, students are expected to acquire the communication, legal research, logic, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning skills essential for the understanding of legal issues and for effective career performance. The program’s mix of paralegal, business, technology, arts, and sciences courses, is intended to enhance each student’s appreciation of diversity, citizenship, leadership, science and technology, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and social and business culture.

With the advice of both academic and career coaches, and in keeping with its unique curriculum and the varied career opportunities available to its graduates, paralegal students are encouraged to pursue one or more of the concentrations offered by the University. In addition, each paralegal student has the opportunity to participate in an externship during spring term of the senior year.

The Bachelor of Science degree is beneficial when competing for a first job placement and for career advancement. Typical career tracks for graduates of the paralegal program may include assistants to corporate counsel; law firm researchers and legal assistants; court and government agency administrators; and similar positions at real estate and insurance firms.
