Career Management Capstone For all students graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, Career Management Capstone provides prospective graduates with a focus on reviewing specific employer competencies and developing targeted portfolio entries in their Career Passport System. Students learn candidate recruitment and selection processes, including the impact of pre-employment tests and background checks, credit ratings, and drug tests that take place during the selection process. Through a process of needs assessment, students select suitable employment tracks for their job search.
Other topics include financial responsibility, life planning and career management, development of job search tools (resume paper and electronic, cover letters, and portfolios), and identification of job search strategies. The On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Program, independent job search strategies and Internet job recruiting programs (erecruiting.com) is used to access a wide variety of job opportunities.
Course Description This course expands on the issues covered
in Career Planning (CAR005) and allows students to create a three-year career
plan. It provides an in-depth description of the Career Development and Alumni
Relations Office as well as the personal benefits of using their services.
Students learn how to evaluate and compare multiple job offers to find the
most suitable company for which to work. Students also learn techniques to
be successful in their careers and at their individual employments. Other
topics include personal financial management strategies and graduate school.
Prerequisite CAR0005.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course the student
will be able to:

Graduate Survey All graduates must complete a graduate survey prior to leaving campus. This survey is required in order to receive a diploma. The responses from the survey are used to determine the level of Career Development Office assistance that is required each trimester and to assist each individual in a pro-active approach to employer recruitment.
Copy of the survey could be obtained through the Career Development Office.
