Career Planning is for students graduating with an Associate Degree. Career Planning provides second year students the opportunity to assess their progress made with developing their Career Passport System and to identify further experiences needed to meet their employer's requirements. Students gain valuable insight into the validated competencies from academics, community service, and experiential learning. Students will also learn how to use employer feedback on their performance to set new goals for self-improvement, which will assist them in planning their career focused academic scheduling plan.
Financial management opportunities for continuing education and senior level cooperative education opportunities are discussed as factors in assessing one's career plan. For students graduating with an A.S. degree, Career Planning prepares them for the employment process.
Course Description This course teaches students to develop
and implement career planning strategies, job search techniques and skill
development necessary
for initial employment. Students learn how to research and discover the benefits
of experiential learning like internships and cooperative education. The
values of continued education, leadership and personal financial management
are also discussed.
Course Outcomes Upon completion of this course the student
will be able to:

Utilize the Career Track Guides based on their interest, academic background
and skill level

Market themselves to employers by their understanding of the J&W brand

Understand the benefits of participating in Experiential Education Programs

Describe the advantages of continuing on for their Bachelor degree

Demonstrate a manageable strategy for meeting financial needs during matriculation
•
Explain the differences and illustrate examples of career goals and career
plans
