Arthur J. Gallagher, Charlotte Campus President 

About the Campus President
Arthur "Art" Gallagher was named president of the Charlotte Campus in January 2003. He is responsible for overseeing the Charlotte Campus administration and strategically planning future campus development.

Gallagher joined Johnson & Wales University in 1999 as vice president of student affairs at the Providence Campus having served as associate dean of student life/director of residential life at Brown University for more than two decades. 

Gallagher was instrumental in the successful process redesign in residential life, which saw a marked improvement in the housing process on the Providence Campus, as well as a variety of organizational and process improvements in the other student affairs departments.

He was responsible for the supervision of administrative departments providing programs and services for 8,000 full-time undergraduates and 1,400 staff and faculty.

A leader in community affairs, Gallagher graduated from the Leadership Rhode Island Class of 2002 and the Leadership Charlotte Class of 2004. He received the Leadership Charlotte “Newcomer of the Year” award in 2004.

Today he serves his community on the boards of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, The United Way of Central Carolinas, The Arts & Science Council, Charlotte Center City Partners, Presbyterian Hospital, Boy Scouts of America (Mecklenburg County Council) and the Charlotte School of Law.

A graduate of JWU’s Senior Management Academy, Gallagher received his bachelor of arts degree in English and his master of arts degree in education from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn.
