safety tips
The Department of Safety & Security uses contracted security officers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Primary responsibilities include maintaining a safe and secure living and working environment, the efficient flow of traffic and enforcement of parking regulations on campus. Security Officers do not have arrest powers, however, the University has developed a highly cooperative relationship with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to help ensure prompt and efficient action.
Services
patrol Safety & Security Officers are walking around the campus patrolling and interacting with students, faculty and staff.
parking enforcement Officers patrol campus parking lots, issue parking citations, immobilize and/or tow vehicles which violate campus parking policies.
communications The communications center is staffed at all times to take calls for service. Communications officers answer emergency, non-emergency, and business telephone lines. They radio dispatch Security Officers to calls for service, and monitor alarms for campus buildings.
lost & found is a service where lost items are retrieved and held at the office of Safety & Security for 90 days. A student may inquire about lost items at any time of the day or night, however, items can only be picked up between 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday.
Programs
