What are the dimensions and set up of the rooms? What is included in each room for each student? details on rooms

Will the residence halls be co-educational? Yes. As the residence halls are set up in a suite style, the two rooms within each suite will be gender specific.

Are laundry services available in the residence halls? Yes. more info

Are the rooms wired for the internet/telephone/cable? Yes, all rooms will be Internet-ready. The University has installed 10 Mbps Ethernet networks in the residence halls. Students will need a 10Base-T card installed in their computers to into ResNet (10/100 autosensing cards will suffice as well). More ResNet information. Additionally, local phone service will be included (students must provide telephones and answering machines) and all rooms will have basic cable service.

May I bring a microwave/refrigerator? Students are not permitted to bring their own microwaves or fridges. However, students will have the opportunity to lease a microfridge through Johnson & Wales. Information about these will be included with the housing assignment mailed in July. more info

Can I make changes to my meal plan? There is an Optional Weekend Meal Plan, providing meals Friday-Sunday at a cost of $1026 per academic year. Changes to the weekend meal plan are only accepted during Check-In or the first two weeks of each term.

Do I need personal property insurance? We strongly urge you to obtain personal property insurance coverage under your own/your parents'/your guardian's homeowner's insurance. Johnson & Wales University is not responsible for damages to or loss of your private property. We suggest looking at nssinc.com if you need to secure property insurance while on-campus.

Do the residence halls close for the winter break? Yes. The halls will close on Friday, December 19, 2008 at noon and reopen on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at noon. Students are not permitted to remain in the residence halls during this time. All students who require housing during the holiday break must make their own arrangements for accommodations. City View Towers will remain open during the winter break. All buildings are open during fall and spring breaks - the dining center is closed, however.

What is the move-in deadline? Any student who does not occupy their assigned room by the last day of Check-In will forfeit that specific housing assignment unless a written request providing sufficient cause for late move-in has been previously submitted to and approved by the director of Residential Life. Students who arrive after the move-in deadline will be placed in any available space.

What is security/access to residence hall rooms? Students have card access to their assigned suites only. The interior doors to the students' rooms can be locked by a deadbolt from the inside of the room.
