Charlotte Campus

All students planning to live on campus must submit a deposit to Admissions and complete their housing application and room selection online.

binding residence contract Regardless of the financial payment you select, residence contracts are effective upon signing and binding for the entire academic year. As long as you are attending the University, you remain responsible for room and board charges for the entire academic year, even if you no longer occupy your assigned room or utilize the dining facilities.

good standing Your housing assignment is contingent upon you being in good standing with Johnson & Wales University. If you have any Financial Planning, International Services holds on your account by the Check-In deadline of 7/11/08 (for Fall 08 new students), 8/8/08 (for Fall 08 returning students), 11/7/08 (for Winter 08/09) or 2/6/08 (for Spring 09) you will not receive a housing assignment. You will then be placed in any available space at Check-In if and when such holds have been removed.

room assignments Any student whose online housing application is incomplete will be assigned to any available residence hall/room and not necessarily the preferred space. Students select their own room assignments online; the earlier students secure an assignment the more likely they are to secure preferred housing assignments. Additionally, rooms may be tripled in the event that building occupancy has been reached. Students will be tripled based on completion of check-in requirements.

insurance We strongly urge you to obtain personal property insurance coverage under your own/your parents'/your guardians' homeowner's insurance. Johnson & Wales University is not responsible for damages to or loss of your private property. You will receive an insurance pamphlet with your housing assignment later this summer. We suggest looking at nssinc.com if you need to secure property insurance while on-campus.

move-in deadline Any student who does not occupy their assigned room by the last day of University Check-In will forfeit that specific housing assignment unless a written request providing sufficient cause for late move-in has been previously submitted to and approved by the Director of Residential Life. Students who arrive after the move-in deadline will be placed in any available space.

optional weekend meal plan If you wish to add or cancel the Optional Weekend Meal Plan, contact Residential Life at 980-598-1800. Changes to the Weekend Meal Plan are not accepted after the second week of each term.
