The main purpose of the Community Leadership Institute is to enable ALL students, faculty and staff on campus to experience leadership. It is a core belief of the CLI that leadership is a development process that happens in the context of the individual leader. Thus, we have implemented a full range of programming to provide any student a meaningful leadership experience no matter where they are in their personal leadership journey.
While the bedrock of leadership development happens through our Leadership Studies arm and the integrated Leadership Concentration, the CLI offers value-added programs for interested students to develop a higher level of leadership understanding and practice.
The CLI houses the three hundred plus student Leadership in Scholarship honors program that gives honors level students the opportunity to challenge themselves academically by completing the Honors Scholar graduation requirements, joining a living learning community in the residence halls and having easier access to campus services.
The signature leadership program offered by the CLI is the Leadership Academy program, a two-year, selective experience for twenty students modeled after top corporate community leadership programs. Leadership Academy students will learn and practice relevant leadership skills with top community leaders.
Lastly, the CLI provides customized leadership training experiences for on-campus leaders as well as faculty and staff.
