We are proud to announce that Johnson & Wales University's Cuisinart Center for Culinary excellence (CCCE) on our Providence Campus was LEED® Gold certified by the US green Building Council (USGBC) in February.

In a manner that respects and preserves the environment, CCCE is a shining example of our increasing and ongoing commitment to sustainability, our students and the community. LEED certified buildings reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for all. The center achieved LEED Gold certification for use of materials, energy, lighting, water conservation and other sustainable strategies.

"This project efficiently uses our natural resources and makes an immediate, positive impact on our planet, which will tremendously benefit future generations to come," says Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair of USGBC.

Accomplishments like this are the result of years of hard work and the diligent efforts of many individuals. The architectural firm of Tsoi/Kobus & associates (TKA) collaborated with culinary deans and faculty to ensure the building reflects the level of excellence our curriculum demands, and JWU's commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and gold standard for food safety.

Special thanks and recognition are due as well to JWU's Facilities Management team, Creative Services Group and various vendors for their support and enthusiasm.
