Program Overview
Love a quality craft beer and want to be a part of making it? Gain the knowledge, skills and real-world experience to enter or advance within the craft brewing industry in JWU’s Professional Craft Brewing certificate program.
Learn advanced brewing theory and explore issues facing the industry today: advanced sensory and laboratory analysis, process management, sterile packaging, regulatory compliance, and retail and wholesale sales. Analyze global beer styles, their histories, ingredients, methods and identifying characteristics. Formulate recipes that replicate these styles, all while enhancing flavor and character.
Then put your skills to the test in commercial craft breweries locally as part of your coursework. Or, if you choose the United Kingdom study abroad option, you may earn Brewlab’s Certificate in Practical Brewing. Either way, you’ll have the opportunity to develop, produce and serve your own recipes to professionals.
Upon successful completion, you’ll be prepared for a variety of entry-level positions within mid-sized breweries, assistant brewer positions within small breweries, or even start your own brewing business.
You can also apply the credits earned in the certificate towards the following bachelor’s degrees:
