College of Arts & Sciences

Critical and creative thinking leads to big ideas, and effective communication can bring those ideas to life. These skills are valuable, and they can transfer to any field you’d like to pursue. Each of our programs in the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences can help you master these skills and apply them to whatever you’re passionate about.

Where Lessons Come to Life

Media & Communication students are making independent films in JWU Charlotte’s new Center for Media Production. Psychology students are helping patients in clinical internships. Liberal Studies students are building their own curriculums to explore a variety of disciplines. The best lessons come from meaningful experiences that let you put your skills to work.

Undergraduate Majors

Get started with an undergraduate degree in Media & Communication, Psychology or Liberal Studies.

Deepen your knowledge in a related field. Choose from a minor in Economics, Food Studies, Gender Studies, Media & Communication or Psychology.

Learn Through Experience

We’ll help you transform your knowledge by giving you opportunities to test and build your skills. Take a Directed Experiential Education (DEE) course, a unique semester-long class where students from different majors collaborate on a real-world project. Simulations and competitions will give you access to professional environments where you can refine your talent. Plus, all students complete at least one industry-relevant internship before graduation.
