Kiley Medeiros, PhD, RN, has been a registered nurse for over 20 years, practicing in Massachusetts and Arizona. Her work centered around adults with cardiac and surgical hospitalizations. In addition to working as a bedside nurse, she also held supervisory and educator roles in hospitals of various sizes and locations.

Medeiros earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, her master's degree from the University of Phoenix, and her doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her dissertation focused on understanding how individuals with chronic illnesses use their patient portal (electronic medical record) to make self-care decisions.

Nursing requires the ability to quickly assess a situation, develop a plan, and evaluate outcomes for clients across various care settings. The material comes to life when students can incorporate their clinical learning into the classroom setting and vice versa.
