Marie Woolery

Marie Woolery, MSN, APRN, PMHNP, has been in Nursing for over 17 years. After earning a BSc in Nursing at the Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica, she served as a Registered Nurse in Jamaica for two years and then in Rhode Island for 13 years. She has varied clinical experience in hospital and emergency nursing settings but spent most of her time as a psychiatric emergency room nurse and then in the community as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Her journey into Nursing Education began as a CNA Instructor and then as a clinical instructor for PMHNP students. She also served as a preceptor for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Post-Grad Fellowship. As a graduate of a Fellowship, she values the importance of experiential learning and interprofessional experiences as she obtained her wide knowledge base through these exposures.
As an educator, Woolery values interactive learning experiences and uses diverse teaching approaches to promote active learning. She is the primary instructor for Mental Health Nursing here at Johnson & Wales University within the Department of Nursing.
