Johnson & Wales Announces 2023 Commencement Plans for Charlotte Campus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — March 15, 2023 – Johnson & Wales University (JWU) today announced plans for its Charlotte Campus Commencement ceremony in May. The university will hold its formal ceremony at the Bojangles Coliseum on Thursday, May 4. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and doors will open at 1 p.m.

“The two most important days in a student's life are the first day of classes and graduation,” said Chancellor Mim Runey, LP.D. “In May, we will celebrate our students’ achievements and the work we have done to educate and support them during their time – and through a pandemic – at Johnson & Wales University.” 

During the Charlotte Campus ceremony, JWU will award one honorary doctorate degree to David Burke, an internationally acclaimed chef and restaurateur. Considered a leading pioneer in American cooking, he will deliver the event’s keynote address.
