Peter Reinhart Named to 2015 Dessert Pro Hall of Fame

JWU Charlotte bread expert Peter Reinhart has been named to the Dessert Pro Hall of Fame.

Chef Peter Reinhart, bread expert and instructor at JWU Charlotte, has been named to Dessert Professional’s Hall of Fame.

Dessert Professional’s list, which also includes their choices for the Top Ten Bread Bakers in America, “celebrates the world of artisan bread” by naming distinguished bakers who have mastered the art and technique of creating the perfect loaf” but are equally focused on ”teaching others and improving the quality of bread in America.”

Reinhart is the full time Chef on Assignment at Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte Campus, where he teaches courses on baking as well as on food and culture.

He is the author of 10 books, including “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice” (2002), honored as a Book of the Year by both the James Beard Foundation and International Association of Culinary Professionals.

His most recent book, “Bread Revolution,” was released in October 2014.

In addition to writing and teaching, as the owner of Reinhart Culinary Development, he is also a product developer and consultant for a number of international food companies, appears regularly on television and radio shows, is a culinary and keynote presenter at conferences around the world, and also hosts the popular video website, PizzaQuest.com.

Reinhart is the consulting partner at Pure Pizza, Charlotte’s first organic farm to table pizzeria and also serves on a number of local nonprofit boards, including The Seventh Street Public Market, and also The Community Culinary School of Charlotte, a training program for people who have experienced barriers to employment.

Reinhart also serves as Assignments Editor for the Modernist Cuisine team’s upcoming book on bread, due late 2015.
