New Traditions: Senior Send-Off

This year, JWU’s Providence Campus introduced a new tradition: Senior Send-Off. Developed by Alumni Relations, this program is a new way to celebrate graduating seniors while simultaneously welcoming them into the JWU Alumni family.

Postponed by weather from its intended date to cap off Founders Week, the inaugural Senior Send-Off did not suffer from a move to the Harborside Campus on May 13.

Graduates were welcomed to the Wildcat Center student lounge with a Class of 2019 t-shirt and an official JWU Alumni pin. They enjoyed a speaking program before processing downstairs to the gym, which was decked out for the JWU community of alumni, faculty, staff, students from all class years, and, of course, Wildcat Willie.

Food, games, balloons, music and glow-in-the-dark fun followed.

This new annual tradition will serve as another opportunity for the JWU community to honor graduating students for many years to come.

Earlier this year, JWU began a new tradition for the incoming class, Ignite the Night; Senior Send-Off will serve as each graduating class’ capstone event to conclude Founders Week.
