UNIVERSITY STATEMENT
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — December 14, 2025 - Johnson & Wales University extends its deepest sympathies to the Brown University community in the wake of last night’s tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the students, faculty, staff, families and all those affected.
Brown University is not only an academic partner, but a valued neighbor and an integral part of the Providence community. We extend our support and solidarity during this difficult time and offer our full assistance in the days ahead.
There is no place for violence on a college campus — or beyond. Institutions of higher education must remain spaces of learning, safety and shared humanity. The university community stands with Brown, united in care, compassion and resolve.
If anyone in the JWU community needs support, Counseling Services is available during normal business hours the week of December 12 - December 19. Additionally, counseling staff can be reached after-hours on-call via ProtoCall Services. This service will be available throughout the entire break.
