Counseling Services provides free confidential services for JWU students, including individual and group counseling, emergency psychological services and sexual assault support services. Counseling Services and OutreachOur educational outreach programming includes the LGBTQ Resource Center, an online resource center for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and ally students, faculty, and staff. We also offer psychological consultation to students, faculty and staff, or parents who are concerned about a student. However, we do not provide long term care or court ordered treatment or counseling that is involved in litigation. Counseling cannot be mandated or required for students. For counseling to be effective, it must be voluntary. In life-threatening situations, authorities at JWU may require a safety assessment for a student. Our StaffThe center is staffed by professionally qualified Doctoral and Masters level clinicians. In addition, we offer internship training for social work students. If you have a preference regarding choice of a counselor, we will make every effort to accommodate your request.
