Hospitality and Entrepreneurship Industry Leaders to Receive Honorary Doctorates from Johnson & Wales University during First In-Person Commencement Ceremony Since 2019

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — March 24, 2022 – Johnson & Wales University (JWU) today announced plans to hold in-person commencement ceremonies this May. The University will hold its commencement exercises on May 6, 2022 and May 7, 2022 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. In addition to honoring the Class of 2022, the commencement ceremonies will welcome back graduates from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 who were unable to participate in the “Grad Walks” held in May 2021.

“The two most important days in a student's life are the first day of classes and graduation, “said Chancellor Mim L. Runey, LP.D. “After nearly two years of unprecedented disruption, we look forward to celebrating our students’ achievements and the work we have done to educate and support them during their time – and through a pandemic – at Johnson & Wales University.”

During the ceremonies, Johnson & Wales University will award three honorary doctorate degrees. Each honorary degree recipient will also deliver the Commencement keynote address for the corresponding ceremony. Recipients have notable reputations in their field and are recognized for their distinguished careers and positive influence on their industries and communities.
