Student Leadership

JWU prepares you for community engagement extending well beyond your college years. Student Involvement & Leadership’s Development programs complement academics and enhance the overall collegiate experience, while honing students’ confidence, leadership skills and personal integrity.

The programs and activities are designed to meet the diverse needs of student leaders and organizations. We encourage you to take advantage of any upcoming leadership programs that fit your interests.

Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leader Series is a six-week leadership institute designed to enhance leadership skills for selected students. Topics covered in this series include leadership, values, communication, time management, self-awareness & stress management and more. Emerging Leaders series is offered in the fall and winter terms.

Advancing in Leadership

Advancing in Leadership experiences are designed to enhance students’ ability to be participating members or leaders in groups. Topics covered include StrengthsQuest, effective collaboration, interpersonal communication, working with diverse people, decision-making and negotiation, and more. Advancing in Leadership experiences are offered throughout the academic year.

Leadership Conference

An opportunity for students who may not have time to commit to a retreat or a longer leadership series, is the Leadership Conference during the Winter term. This conference will allow seasoned student leaders, as well as faculty and staff, to present sessions on various leadership topics, while giving students of all levels an opportunity to attend a structured leadership conference.
