Energy Conservation Office

As a community partner from our earliest days, Johnson & Wales remains committed to serving as a good neighbor and positive influence among its neighborhoods. As such, in 2013, Johnson & Wales instituted the Energy Conservation Office.

The Energy Conservation Office’s goal is to reduce energy consumption and energy bills across the Providence campus by reviewing facilities schedules to optimize energy use, building a historical database for continual review and elevating energy conservation in the minds of students, faculty and staff.

A few energy-saving tips, courtesy of the ECO:

Lighting

Turning lights off that are not in use is a great step in reducing our energy usage.

Electronic Devices

Electronic devices account for approximately 15% of household electricity usage according to Energy Star. Unplugging electronic devices, such as battery chargers, and use of power strips, will reduce energy costs.
